on a one-way ride...

Speaking of juxtapositions -- on that theoretical playlist that loops in my head, I have long conceived of Pere Ubu’s “Waiting for Mary” followed by The Association’s “Along Came Mary” followed by The Pixies’ “Here Comes Your Man” followed by The Association’s “Never My Love”…

Yes, “Third Reich & Roll” was also my intro to the deconstructionists known as Residents. And speaking of Dick Clark (to be found on the cover), I see that his re-animated corpse (didn’t he suffer a stroke a few years ago?) will be rockin’ in the New Year alongside torch-bearer Ryan Seacrest on ABC tonight. I think I’d rather listen to Casey Kasem (as Shaggy, of course) perform the count-down…

old piss

"... the dive that used to sit on the NE corner of Madison & Halsted. It reeked of old alcoholic urine with denizens who could have came straight out of a painting by Hooper, a novel by Chandler or Algren, or a song by Tom Waits."
